Great Commander Ming Jian
明公卿战剑 (Commander Grade)
Great Commander Ming Jian (Commander Grade) is a highly accurate recreaction of a well-preserved Ming Jian, with improvements in measurements for better practise experience.
The Chinese early Ming swords refer to swords from the Song period that still retains its practical character for efficient cutting, featuring a sturdy blade and designed as a cutting and thrusting sword for an era of sophisticated heavy armor.
When discussing the Ming sword, the prominent features are the "云芝铜挡葫芦首, 七星连线鸭舌尖" or the cloud/Ganoderma shape brass guard, huge gourd-shaped pommel, inlaid seven stars, and the most typical Ming-style flat and rounded blade tip known as the "Duck tongue" tip (another common type is the flat Gui 圭-shaped tip), which is clearly distinct from the stabbier tip of the Qing sword. Both cutting edges run almost parallel to each other with subtle tapering and end in a roundish tip.
The fittings feature a robust and grand design that highlights the style of the Ming Dynasty. The sturdy blade is counterbalanced by an equally durable handguard and pommel, creating a commanding yet vibrant sword.
